With a track record of unique shopping, dining, beaches, and local experiences, Cape May is one of the region’s most popular destinations. As a coastal town within driving distance of some of the most populated areas in the country, getting around and finding convenient parking can be especially important during peak season. While there are a variety of parking options available throughout town, sometimes it’s just easier to leave the car behind. Luckily, Cape May offers a free Jitney shuttle service to help you do exactly that.

The Jitney is a complimentary shuttle that runs throughout Cape May on select dates and during select times, connecting key areas of town so you can get where you need to go without the hassle of driving. The green and white buses seat up to 13 passengers, are ADA compliant, and are fully climate controlled for comfort.

Buses stop at designated locations when passengers are waiting or when riders request a drop-off. Drivers may also stop along the route when safely able to do so if flagged down. All official stops are clearly marked with signage around town. In general, wait times are typically 15–25 minutes, though they may vary depending on traffic, weather, special events, and seasonal demand.

For added convenience, visitors can download the Jitney Surfer app to track buses in real time and request pickups along the route. It’s an easy way to plan your ride and reduce wait time while exploring town.

The Jitney is especially helpful for visitors staying a bit farther from central areas, or for anyone who prefers not to walk or drive between destinations. It’s also a great option for those parking in free lots a little outside the busiest sections of town and then riding in from there.

So next time you’re visiting Cape May, consider taking the Jitney. It’s free, convenient, and makes getting around town a whole lot easier—leaving you more time to enjoy everything the shore has to offer.
