To celebrate 175 years since the incorporation of the City of Cape May, 50 years as a National Historic Landmark City, and 250 years of the United States of America, the City of Cape May has launched this unified, citywide marketing and storytelling website.
This dynamic online presence will serve as the digital hub for the entire year-long celebration. We’ve unified all participating groups to promote events in real time and provide residents, visitors, and media with a single, authoritative source of information throughout 2026.

A Message from the Mayor
Dear Friends of Cape May City,
In 2026, Cape May City proudly marks two remarkable milestones: the 175th anniversary of our incorporation and the 50th anniversary of our designation as a National Historic Landmark. For nearly two centuries, this extraordinary seaside community has stood as a place of history, resilience, and enduring charm—shaped by generations who have called it home and enriched by visitors drawn to its beauty and character.
From its Victorian architecture and storied streets to its vibrant arts, tourism, and maritime heritage, Cape May City’s past is inseparable from its present. This anniversary offers us a meaningful opportunity to reflect on where we have been, celebrate who we are today, and look ahead to the future we are building together.
Throughout 2026, we will commemorate this historic occasion with events, programs, and activities that honor our city’s legacy while engaging residents, businesses, and visitors alike. The celebration will highlight the people, places, and moments that have defined Cape May City since its incorporation in 1851 and reaffirm the strong sense of community that continues to guide us forward.
We invite everyone to join us in celebrating 175 years of history, pride, and progress. Together, we will honor Cape May City’s past and ensure its story continues to thrive for generations to come.
With appreciation and anticipation,
Mayor Zack Mullock
